Using Grid Filters & Views in Matters

Modified on Wed, 17 Sep at 5:25 PM

The new Grid Filters & Views feature helps you manage your matters more efficiently. You can now filter, customize, and export matter lists exactly the way you need ✅. No more scrolling endlessly — focus on what truly matters!

✨ What is Grid Filters & Views?

This feature allows you to:

  • Filter matters by type, status, practice area, priority, owner, last updated, and more.
  • Customize your columns so only the information you need is visible.
  • Save views and quickly switch between them depending on your workflow.
  • Export your data in a structured format that matches your grid view.

☝ How to apply filters

  1. Go to the Matters tab.
  2. Click on Filters in the top bar.
  3. Select one or multiple criteria (e.g., Status = Open, Priority = High).
  4. Your matter list will update instantly.

Tips:

  • Use the “Clear filters” button to reset your search.
  • If no matter matches, you’ll now see “No matter found” instead of a confusing “Create your first matter” message ⭐:contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}.

✍ How to customize columns

  1. Click on the Columns button in the top-right of your matter grid.
  2. Select or deselect the columns you want to display.
  3. Drag and drop columns to reorder them ✊.
  4. Confirm to save your changes — your grid updates instantly.

Important: The Name column is always mandatory. Other columns can be hidden or shown as you prefer.

⚡ Saving and reusing views

Instead of setting filters and columns each time, you can save them as a custom view:

  1. Apply the filters and column setup you want.
  2. Click on Save View.
  3. Give your view a name (e.g., “Open High Priority”).
  4. Switch between saved views from the dropdown menu anytime ✌.

⏬ Exporting your matters list

You can export your current view in just a few clicks:

  1. Set up filters and columns as needed.
  2. Click on Export.
  3. Your export file will match the exact order and fields displayed in your grid.

Note: Contributor users can now also export matters.

❓ FAQ & Limitations

  • Filters apply only to the current matter scope (All Matters vs My Matters). For example, some filters like Practice Area are available only in “All Matters”.
  • Sorting is supported for key fields such as Name, ID, Status, Owner, Dates, and numeric fields. Some advanced fields are still being optimized.
  • Views are personal — they are not shared across users.

⭐ Benefits at a glance

  • ✅ Faster access to the matters that are relevant to you.
  • ✅ Flexibility to configure grids to your needs.
  • ✅ Clean exports for reporting and collaboration.
  • ✅ Clearer error messages when no matters are found.
