Matter Tasks allow legal teams to:
- Create and assign actionable tasks directly within a legal matter
- Track task status and due dates in one centralized view
- Stay aligned as a team with clear ownership and visibility
- Quickly review all personal assigned tasks across matters via "My Tasks"

✍ How to Use Matter Tasks
✨ Accessing the Tasks Panel
1. Open a matter.
2. Click the task icon on the right-hand sidebar.

3. This opens the tasks panel with filters and a list of existing tasks.

✅ Creating a New Task
1. Type the task name (max 255 characters).
2. Click Add — the task is instantly created with default settings:
- Status: To do

- Assignee: Add the assignee
- Due date: Add the due date
✍ Editing a Task
You can click directly on any task field to edit:
- Name – Inline editing (with validation)
- Status – Switch between "To do", "In progress", and "Done"
- Due Date – Pick from calendar (past dates shown in red unless marked "Done")
- Assignee – Select a teammate with "can view" or "can edit" rights on the matter
✂️ Deleting a Task
Click the edit icon, then the trash/delete icon next to the task name. No confirmation is required ⚠️

⚖️ Task Properties & Status
- Name – Required, max 255 characters
- Status – To do, In Progress, Done
- Due Date – Optional (warning shown if overdue)
- Assignee – Optional, but helpful for ownership
✅ Tip: Completed tasks are shown in a collapsible section called “Done” at the bottom. You can toggle this view to keep things clean!
⚙️ Task Panel Filters & Sorting
✋ Filtering by Assignee
Use the dropdown on the top left to filter by:
- Specific users (who are assigned to any task in that matter)
- Unassigned tasks
⬇️ Sorting Tasks
Use the dropdown on the top right to sort tasks by:
- Due Date (latest first)
- Last Added (default)
✌ My Tasks: View All Your Tasks
You can view all tasks assigned to you across all matters by clicking the “My Tasks” icon next to the search bar at the top.
- Tasks are shown in a sortable grid
- Ordered by due date (tasks with no due date at the end)
- Inline edit and delete available
- You can toggle visibility of “Done” tasks
⚠️ Permissions & Edge Cases
Who Can Be Assigned to Tasks?
- Must have “can edit matters” role permission
- AND at least “can view this matter” permission
❌ If a User Loses Access
- Their tasks will no longer show in “My Tasks”
- A warning icon will appear on the matter view
- They can’t be re-assigned
♻️ If a User is Deleted
Tasks are automatically reassigned to the matter owner so nothing gets lost ?

Can I add multiple assignees to a task?
Not yet — tasks support one assignee at a time for clarity and ownership.
Can I see tasks across all matters?
Yes, using the “My Tasks” feature at the top of your screen.
Can I hide completed tasks?
Yes! Use the toggle switch to show/hide "Done" tasks.
Is there a confirmation before deleting a task?
