Matter Profiles let you turn any matter into a clean, professional, ready-to-share document in just a few clicks. Instead of rebuilding summaries by hand every time someone asks "where does this matter stand?", you can generate a standardized overview straight from the platform and share it with managers, board members, or finance colleagues — without giving them access to the legal platform.
⭐ What Matter Profiles do
A Matter Profile is an exportable overview of a matter, generated directly from the All Matters list. It pulls the matter's structured information into a single document you can download and share.
- Generate a profile for one matter.
- Choose exactly which sections to include, and whether to show or hide empty ones.
- Export as PDF (best for sharing, printing, or archiving) or Word (.docx) (editable, compatible with Word and Google Docs).
- Keep communication consistent across your organization, with the platform staying the single source of truth.
A profile can include the following sections, shown in this order: Key Facts, Details, Spend (if activated on the matter type), Provisions (if activated on the matter type), and any additional / custom tables configured on the matter type.
✅ Before you start
- You need access to the Matter Management module and to the All Matters list.
- You need permission to view the matters you want to include in a profile.
- The Spend and Provisions sections only appear if they are activated on the relevant matter type.
- No email or extra setup is required — the generated file downloads directly in your browser.
✍ Generate a profile for a single matter
Generating a profile takes just a few clicks from the All Matters list. Once the modal opens, you first choose what to include, then set the output options.
- Go to the All Matters list view.
- Select exactly one matter. The Generate profile button appears in the action toolbar. (With no matter selected, the button is not shown.)
- Click Generate profile. A modal titled "Generate profile — [Matter name]" opens.

Step 1 — Choose what goes into the profile
Select the sections to include. All sections are on by default; deselect anything you don't need:
- Key Facts
- Details — expandable, so you can select or deselect individual sub-sections
- Spend — shown only if activated on the matter type
- Provisions — shown only if activated on the matter type
- Additional tables — with individual table sub-selection

Step 2 — Set the output options
- Hide empty content (enabled by default) — sections and tables with no data are left out. Turn it off to keep them, with a "No data for this section" message.
- Export format — PDF (default) or Word (.docx).
- Table display format — Table view (default) exports only the first 5 columns of any table with more than 5 columns; List view exports all columns as a vertical list. Tables with 5 columns or fewer are always exported as a table.
- Save as default settings — saves your choices for next time. This preference is saved for your own account.

Use Back to return to Step 1 (your selection is kept), Cancel to close without generating, or Generate profile to produce the document. The file downloads directly in your browser and a success message confirms it is ready. Word output mirrors the same content and structure as the PDF.
✨ Tips & best practices
- Tick Save as default settings once you find a setup that works, so you don't reconfigure it every time.
- Choose List view when your tables have many columns and you don't want any data left out.
- Export to Word when you need to add commentary or adapt the document before sharing.
- Because a profile is a snapshot, regenerate it whenever the underlying matter changes so recipients always get current information.
⛔ Limitations & known constraints
- Profiles are generated one matter at a time — exporting several matters in a single action is not available yet.
- A Matter Profile is a snapshot taken at generation time — it does not update automatically after the matter changes.
- The file downloads in your browser; no email notification is sent when a profile is generated.
- The table display format applies uniformly to every table in the document; it cannot be set per table. The 5-column rule also applies to custom / additional tables.
- Save as default settings stores your preferences per user, and clicking Cancel never saves settings.
❓ FAQ
Do recipients need a DiliTrust account to view a profile?
No. You generate a standalone PDF or Word file that you can share like any other document.
Which formats can I export?
PDF (default) and Word (.docx).
Can I control which information appears?
Yes. Use the two-step flow to select sections and sub-sections, and to show or hide empty content.
What happens to empty sections?
By default they are hidden. If you keep them, they display a message such as "No data for this section."
Can I generate profiles for several matters at once?
Not for now — profiles are generated one matter at a time. Select a single matter to create its profile.
