Keep your team aligned and stay on top of important matter updates with the new Key Facts feature in the Matter Activity tab. Whether you're tracking meeting summaries, legal decisions, or deadlines, this tool ensures clarity and continuity—especially in collaborative or long-running matters.
✨ What Are Key Facts?
Key Facts are date-tagged updates that appear in the matter’s Overview tab. They help you:
- ? Reduce mental load by recording important activities
- ? Enhance collaboration with team mentions
- ? Track court dates, decisions, tasks, and more—all in one place
- ? Maintain a history of events for seamless handovers
This feature is especially useful when:
- One user handles multiple matters
- Matters are infrequently updated (e.g., IP renewals)
- Team members change due to vacation or turnover
?️ How to Use Key Facts
? Creating a Key Fact
1. Go to the Overview tab on your Matter page (default view).
2. Click the text field labeled “Add key update, event, or decision…”
3. A text editor will appear. You can:
- Type or paste text (max 3000 characters)
- Use basic formatting: Bold, Italic, Underline, bullet lists, and numbered lists
- Change the date if needed (default is today)
4. Click Save to post it to the activity feed.
5. You can also click ? Maximize to open a full-screen editor.

?️ Editing or Updating a Key Fact
1. Hover over the key fact in the timeline— it will highlight in gray.
2. Click anywhere to open the edit popup.
3. Make your changes and click Save.
✅ “Edited” label appears next to changed posts, with date/time info on hover.
?️ Deleting a Key Fact
1. In the edit popup, click the trash icon.
2. Confirm in the dialog box.
⚠️ This action is irreversible.

- ? Date: Set manually or use today by default

- ? Creator/Editor: Displayed with name and timestamps

- “See more” link for long key facts (expands into popup)
- Hover reveals editor details and timestamp

- Users with “can edit” rights can create, update, or delete key facts
- Users can modify key facts created by others

- Every create/edit/delete is logged (date, user, old/new values)
- Stored in backend for internal support or compliance needs
? Tips for Effective Use
- Use bullet points for quick summaries
- Tag team members using mentions like
@JaneDoeto assign or inform - Paste relevant email excerpts to retain legal communications
- Use consistent titles or structure for recurring updates (e.g., “Monthly Status – July 2025”)
